The wireless keyboard can sync with your iPhone. Blogging with your iPhone just became easier.
The other day I was reading an informative blog called “Working on the Go”. Author Rosemary, who is obviously deep into all things Apple Mac, reminded us that we can travel with the IPhone4 and demonstrated how to use a wireless keyboard with the iPhone to expand the phone into a notebook. I’d never thought of pairing my wireless keyboard with my iPhone.
First I had to think of a reason to want do it, but Rosemary identified it for me – if you’re caught without a computer and need to be taking notes to update your blog, this is going to do the trick.
Of course you have to just happen to have the keyboard with you. But for this kind of convenience, I could get used to carrying it.
I was sitting there reading the instructions and just happened to have a wireless keyboard in front of me with my iPhone4 alongside it on the desk.
Following Rosemary’s instruction I did the following to set it up:
Click: 1. Settings 2. General. 3. Bluetooth.
At first nothing happened. “Ah” I thought “thought it was too good to be true”. But after fiddling around I realised I had to turn the keyboard off then on. I turned the iPhone off and on for good measure.
Suddenly the little wheel was whirring and telling me it was ‘searching’. They found each other. I clicked into the “notes” section and started typing on the keyboard. Brilliant.
As you type, the script appears clearly in the yellow notes screen section of the iPhone. You can write email, SMS messages and post comments.
After experimenting, it was time to return to the computer. The keyboard wasn’t working any more with the computer. That’s how I discovered I had to return to the iPhone’s settings to turn off Bluetooth, so the keyboard would once again recognise the computer as its master.
Later I found the touch-sensitive keyboard image had disappeared from the bottom my iPhone. I couldn’t type anything into it. I again turned off Bluetooth. The keyboard image re-appeared on the iPhone.
Will work for Tweeting also? I haven’t tried it. If you want to ask Rosemary yourself, visit her blog ‘Working On The Go“. If you have any additional suggestions on how you can use this, please leave a comment below.
